How I can help

Legacy modernisation & cloud migration

Assess the estate, rationalise applications and plan what to migrate, modernise, retain, replace or retire.

Pragmatic modernisation

Application, infrastructure and data-centre assessment with business cases and executable migration roadmaps.

Legacy modernisation and application rationalisation

A modernisation plan needs to explain what should change, what should stay and why. I assess the application portfolio, infrastructure, integrations and data dependencies alongside support costs, lifecycle risks and business priorities.

The result is a set of evidence-led decisions: retain, improve, consolidate, replace with SaaS, migrate to cloud or retire. Application rationalisation reduces unnecessary duplication while preserving the capabilities the business still depends on.

Cloud migration strategy and data centre consolidation

Cloud migration is one option, not the default answer for every workload. I compare the economics and operational implications of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SaaS and retained on-premise services, including transition costs and the skills needed to run the target estate.

Planning covers dependencies, migration sequencing, business continuity, recovery requirements, supplier responsibilities and the handover into service. Clear decision points and ownership make the roadmap usable by finance, business stakeholders and delivery teams.

What does an estate assessment involve?

We begin with the available system inventory, contracts, costs, lifecycle information and the changes already under way. We identify evidence gaps before agreeing the level of discovery needed. The assessment then supports an investment case and a phased plan rather than assuming all systems need replacing.

When this is useful

  • A complex legacy estate is driving cost, risk or slow delivery.
  • A migration, consolidation or platform replacement needs a defensible business case.

What you receive

  • A view of estate health, dependencies, criticality, lifecycle and cost.
  • A retain, modernise, migrate, replace or retire recommendation for each prioritised workload.
  • A sequenced roadmap with transition risks, delivery dependencies and benefits to track.

How we start

  • Use existing inventories and service information, validate the most critical dependencies and agree the criteria for investment decisions.
